OBS control from your deck: scenes, mic and stream
CYPAD adds OBS keys to your on-screen pad: switch scenes, mute the microphone and start streaming without going back to the OBS window. The keys show the real state.
What you can control in OBS
CYPAD talks to OBS through the official WebSocket server and exposes the actions you use most during a broadcast. Each action is a key on the pad or a step inside a routine.
- Start, stop or toggle streaming
- Start, stop or toggle recording
- Switch to a specific scene by name
- Mute or unmute an audio input
- Windows volume and media controls from the same pad
The official plugin, nothing unusual to install
Control relies on the WebSocket server included with OBS. In OBS, open Tools → WebSocket Server Settings, enable the server and note the port; the default is 4455. If you enable authentication, copy the password as well.
In CYPAD, open the Stream panel and find the OBS card: enter the host (127.0.0.1 if OBS runs on the same PC), the port and the password if there is one. Connect and Test connection check the link; the note below the form says whether the connection was established or which error OBS returned.
Keys that show state
OBS keys are not a blind remote. CYPAD polls OBS roughly once a second and lights up the matching key: streaming while you are live, recording while you record, the active scene and the muted input.
That means you can look at the pad instead of the OBS window to know whether the mic is open. State is only updated while the connection is active.
Scenes and microphone: exact names
A scene action takes a name, and it must match the scene name in OBS, with the same spaces and capitals. If you rename a scene in OBS, update the key.
The same applies to the microphone: the mute action targets a specific audio input, usually Mic/Aux. If you renamed yours, type that name exactly as it appears.
- One key per scene, with the name copied from OBS
- One mute key per audio input
- Renaming in OBS means editing the key
- Key state is read from OBS, not assumed
What CYPAD does not do
CYPAD is not a virtual camera or a virtual microphone: it installs no audio or video drivers and does not appear as a device in other applications.
To bring the mascot to your stream, the route is OBS: add the mascot window as a window capture in a scene and, if you need it in another app, publish that scene with the OBS Virtual Camera. For processed voice, the voice modulator needs a virtual audio cable installed separately, and its output is selected as the microphone in OBS.
OBS control is limited to what the deck exposes: whole scenes, streaming, recording and mute. Showing or hiding an individual scene item is still done in OBS.
Requirements and plan
OBS and CYPAD run on Windows 10 or 11. The app installs free from the Microsoft Store; OBS actions need a Pro licence, which costs €9 once. The Free plan includes 1 profile and up to 6 active buttons, without OBS.
If you already have Pro, paste the key in Settings → Account → Licence and the OBS actions become available in the button editor.
Frequently asked questions
Does CYPAD need the OBS WebSocket plugin?
Yes. It uses the official OBS WebSocket server, enabled in Tools → WebSocket Server Settings. The default port is 4455; host and password are configured in the OBS card in CYPAD.
Do the keys show streaming state?
Yes. CYPAD polls OBS about once a second and lights the streaming key, the recording key, the active scene key and the muted input key. Without a connection there is no state to show.
Can I control a single source inside a scene?
No. The deck switches whole scenes and mutes audio inputs; hiding or showing an individual source inside a scene is done in OBS.
Does CYPAD replace my webcam or microphone?
No. CYPAD installs no virtual camera or microphone. The mascot reaches OBS through a window capture and can be published with the OBS Virtual Camera; the voice modulator needs a virtual audio cable installed separately.
