Set up the voice modulator and its output
From microphone to streaming app: pick the input, tune the pitch, start the effect and check the audio path before you go live.
Before you start: what you need
This guide walks the full voice path: the input, the effect and the output. Before you touch anything, check that you have the following.
- CYPAD installed from the Microsoft Store on Windows 10 or 11.
- A working microphone, selected in Stream.
- A Pro licence: the Stream panel is part of Pro, like OBS, sounds and routines.
- A virtual audio device installed separately, only if you want to send the voice to OBS or another app. CYPAD does not install one.
- Headphones, recommended to hear yourself without feedback.
Step 1: get the microphone ready
Open Stream and grant microphone permission through the microphone test. If the output list is empty, this test is also what unlocks the devices for the system.
Choose the input you are going to use: the modulator works with the microphone selected in Stream.
Step 2: pick the output and start the modulator
Scroll down to Voice modulator. Under Processed voice output, choose a specific destination and press Refresh devices if you have just plugged something in.
Set Pitch (semitones) between −12 and +12 and Output volume between 0 and 100 %. Press Start modulator: the effect begins processing the voice and the panel switches to active.
Step 3: get it into the destination app
To hear yourself only, headphones are enough: the processed voice comes out there. To broadcast, you need a virtual audio device installed separately; CYPAD neither installs nor configures that driver.
Select the playback end of the cable as the output in CYPAD and its recording end as the microphone in OBS, TikTok LIVE Studio or another app. Disable capture of the physical microphone in the destination app and avoid a desktop capture that doubles the audio. The OBS virtual camera does not carry this voice.
Step 4: local test
Record a few seconds in the destination app and listen back: voice, volume and sync. If something is off, compare with the unprocessed microphone. When the voice arrives out of step, adjust the audio offset in OBS.
Common problems
The output list is empty: run the Stream microphone test and press Refresh devices. Without microphone permission, the system does not show the list.
Nothing can be heard in the destination app: check both ends of the virtual cable and make sure the microphone selected there is the recording end, not the physical one. Also check that the modulator is still running.
The modulator stopped: changing microphone or output stops it by design. Press Start modulator again.
You hear feedback or echo: there are speakers near the microphone. Switch to headphones.
The voice arrives with a delay: the effect works with a window of about 80 ms plus the device and receiving-app buffers. If you need to line it up with the picture, adjust the audio offset in OBS.
You want to stop modulating: press Stop modulator or close CYPAD, which also stops the effect.
What this setup does not do
The effect is not an AI imitation or a studio transposition, and it does not guarantee anonymity. There is no backup connection either: if the processor fails, the microphone is unplugged or the output disappears, processing stops. The modulator does not start by itself when CYPAD opens.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to install anything else?
To hear yourself, no. To send the processed voice to OBS or another app, yes: a virtual audio device installed separately. CYPAD does not install drivers.
Does it work with the OBS virtual camera?
No. The virtual camera carries video. For the voice, use the recording end of the virtual cable as the microphone in OBS.
How much delay does it add?
About 80 ms of window plus the device and receiving-app buffers; the exact figure depends on your setup. You can adjust the audio offset in OBS.
Do I have to start it every time?
It does not start by itself when CYPAD opens, and it stops if you close the app or change microphone or output. In those cases, press Start modulator again.
Can I use it without Pro?
The modulator lives in the Stream panel, which is part of the Pro licence, like OBS, sounds and routines. The Free plan covers 1 profile and up to 6 active buttons with the basic actions.
