Set up your phone as a CYPAD controller
Mobile control turns your phone or tablet into a second deck over Wi-Fi. This guide covers activation, the PIN connection and the checks to run when something does not load.
Before you start
You need CYPAD on a Windows 10 or 11 PC and a Pro licence: mobile control is a Pro feature, like PTT and advanced profiles. You also need a phone or tablet with a browser on the same Wi-Fi network as the PC.
Nothing is installed on the phone. CYPAD serves the interface from the PC and the phone opens it in the browser.
- Pro active
- PC and phone on the same Wi-Fi
- A browser on the phone: nothing to install
Step by step
Open Settings and go to Functions. Look for the "Mobile control" panel.
- 1. Turn on "Use phone or tablet". The panel shows the server state and, once ready, one or more local addresses.
- 2. Check the port if you need to: 4780 by default, in a range from 1024 to 65535.
- 3. Note the 4-digit PIN. It is the only credential the phone will ask for.
- 4. On the phone, join the same Wi-Fi and open the address CYPAD shows, for example http://192.168.1.40:4780.
- 5. Enter the PIN on the "Connect to your PC" screen and tap "Connect".
- 6. The deck is now on your phone: tap the keys to run the same actions as on the PC.
- 7. Turn on full screen in the browser where available to use the space.
What you can do from the phone
The interface mirrors the PC pad shell and its LCD keys, with the same photos, colours, labels, folders and positions, including the empty slots in the grid.
States update on the phone too: label, icon, colour and badge change when they change on the PC. Profile changes and the edits you make on the PC sync automatically.
- Run buttons and open folders
- PTT with press and release actions
- Change profiles and follow live states
- Portrait, landscape and tablet; wide grids scroll inside the shell
Keeping the screen awake
The control starts off and is enabled with a tap. Once on, CYPAD tries to keep the screen from locking while you use it.
In secure contexts it uses the Screen Wake Lock API; over the local HTTP address it falls back to a bundled video. The result depends on the browser, battery saving and the system, so check the auto-lock time on the actual phone. CYPAD does not change device settings or prevent a manual lock.
If the phone cannot connect
Check the network first: the phone and the PC must be on the same Wi-Fi. When you enable the control, Windows may ask whether to allow the connection; accept on private networks.
If the page does not load, check the address and port exactly as they appear in Settings. If the port is taken or there is an error, the panel shows the reason: change the port and try again.
If the PIN fails, type the 4 digits exactly as shown in the panel. Changing the PIN or the port restarts the server with the new settings.
If the phone sleeps after a while, review the keep-awake mode and the system auto-lock. And if a press is cancelled — for example, when you leave the page — CYPAD does not run the action.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to install anything on the phone?
No. The interface opens in the browser and CYPAD serves it from the PC. No app is installed on the phone.
Does mobile control require Pro?
Yes. The companion, PTT and advanced profiles are part of Pro.
Does it work away from home or over mobile data?
No. The phone and the PC must be on the same local network: CYPAD shows Wi-Fi addresses, not internet ones.
Does it work while CYPAD is minimised?
Yes. With the control enabled, the server keeps running even when CYPAD sits in the tray, and phone presses reach the PC all the same.
